In the early 1940s electricity was needed to help make aluminum for the war effort. In June 1940, Nantahala Power and Light, then owned by ALCOA, began constructing a dam to generate hydroelectric power. Lake Glenville was the result and it provides some wonderful opportunities for great photos.
